School leaders from across the Diocese of Erie gathered June 15-17 at St. Mark Catholic Center for the annual Leadership Conference, three days dedicated to prayer, professional growth and collaboration in support of Catholic education throughout the diocese's 13 counties.
Principals, administrators and diocesan leaders came together to prepare for the next school year while strengthening the relationships that connect Catholic schools across northwest Pennsylvania. Although separated by geography, the conference served as a reminder that every school shares the same mission: forming young people academically, spiritually and morally so they may become faithful disciples and compassionate leaders.
The conference opened with the retreat, No Cross, No Crowns, led by Father Luke Daghir and Father Ben Daghir. Drawing from their experiences as priests and educators, the brothers challenged participants to embrace fearless leadership rooted in faith, reminding school leaders that authentic leadership begins with a willingness to serve others and trust in Christ.
The conference continued with keynote presentations from Don Smith and Garth Larson of First Educational Resources, who guided participants through Leading the Learning From Every Perspective. Through practical discussions and collaborative activities, school leaders explored strategies for strengthening instructional leadership, supporting faculty and fostering school communities where every student can thrive.
At the heart of the conference was the celebration of Mass, reminding participants that Catholic education is more than academic excellence. It is a ministry rooted in the Gospel, where faith is woven into every lesson, relationship and decision. Gathering around the altar offered school leaders an opportunity to seek God's guidance before returning to their classrooms and communities.
Held this year at St. Mark Catholic Center, the Leadership Conference continues to equip those who lead the Diocese of Erie's Catholic schools with the spiritual foundation, professional tools and shared vision needed to serve students and families across the region.
As another school year approaches, the Leadership Conference reaffirmed that Catholic education remains one of the Church's most important ministries, forming students academically, spiritually and morally while preparing them to live lives of faith, purpose and service. The Diocese of Erie asks the faithful to continue praying for its principals, teachers, pastors and all who serve in Catholic schools, that they may lead with wisdom, courage and compassion as they help shape the hearts and minds of the next generation.
